This article is updated with the latest news on Allie’s summits as they happen
(April 14th 2024) Breaking news from the heart of the Himalayas! Australian Alpinist Allie Pepper has achieved a remarkable feat by scaling Mt. Annapurna, the world’s 10th highest peak, without the aid of supplemental oxygen. This achievement is a testament to her exceptional mountaineering skills and determination. A little while ago Allie decided to embark on her dream of summiting all 14 of the highest peaks in the world without supplemental oxygen and she is on the road to succeeding!
At 48 years old, Allie, hailing from the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, has undertaken the ambitious challenge of summiting all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks within a three-year timeframe. Her successful ascent of Mt. Annapurna, accomplished at approximately 12:05 PM last Sunday (14th April 2024), was made possible with the support of her climbing partners, Mingtemba (Mikel) Sherpa and Ngima Wanadak Sherpa, under the coordination of Expedition organisers, Seven Summit Treks.
This marks Allie’s third triumph since commencing her project in July 2023, following her successful summits of Broad Peak in Pakistan and Manaslu in Nepal. With 11 peaks remaining on her agenda, Allie’s next challenge will be Makalu (Nepal 8,481m).
If Allie accomplishes her mission, she will join a select few who have conquered all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks without supplemental oxygen. Currently, only two individuals have achieved this remarkable feat, which took them 16 years. Allie’s project, titled “The Respect Above the Clouds 14 Peaks No O2,” underscores her commitment to this extraordinary endeavour.

UPDATE:
As of monday 6th May 2024, Allie Pepper has summited Mt. Makalu (8,485m), making this her fourth summit of the 14 peaks without the use of supplemental oxygen. This extraordinary feat means Allie has made two new world records:
• First Australian woman to summit Makalu without oxygen.
• First Australian woman to summit two 8000ers in the one season
Makalu is the 5th highest mountain in the world and is situated close to Mt Everest. Allie with Mingtemba (Mikel) Sherpa and Ngima Wanadak Sherpa reached the summit after a 29-hour trek from camp.
Allie is now currently attempting her 5th ascent without supplemental oxygen- Mount Kangchenjunga.
